This dressing is easily made with ingredients you might already have on hand. It whips up in just a few minutes, but I recommend letting the flavors mingle in the fridge for several hours before using. Overnight is even better!
My daughter just left for her senior year of college (where has the time gone?!). Because this was her last summer before joining the 'real world', she decided to do some traveling. She had saved some money working her summer and winter vacations from school, and decided to take this opportunity to visit friends in San Francisco and the Northeast.
She took care of all her travel arrangements and even made good use of her time by getting a jump on the job search. She was able to get a meeting with a potential employer that sounds very promising. I'm a super proud mom <smile>.

In her travels to the Northeast, her friend introduced her to the Liz Lemon sandwich. I got a text saying, "I have a food project for you that might be the best thing I've ever eaten!"
Living in FL most of my life, I had never heard of this sandwich, let alone tasted it! So glad she has faith that I can recreate something I've never even experienced haha. Anywhooo, Madison went on to tell me the components of the sandwich and it sounded good for sure.
She explained the Russian Dressing on the sandwich was delightful and a very important piece of the Liz Lemon puzzle, so I decided to get a jump on things and found a creamy Russian Dressing recipe on allrecipes.com.
She was home just about a week after her Liz Lemon experience, and we went to work recreating the sandwich. I picked up some turkey, pastrami, swiss cheese, potato chips, and I made homemade marble rye bread along with the Russian Dressing. A traditional Liz Lemon also has coleslaw on it, and I bet that is a very good addition! Sadly, I forgot to pick up what I needed to make coleslaw, so we went without, and it was still very yummy!
I'm thrilled to report that Madison declared MY Russian Dressing even better than the dressing she had on Martha's Vineyard!! SCORE!!

DeleteHello, I'm late to the party, (LOL), but found this on Pintrest.. I am making this tomorrow, for Sunday, and just questioning if your pic has the required ketchup in that batch? Seems to me from reading the ingredients, it should turn it kinda pink, no? I'm still making it, but just curious.. thanks!!
ReplyDeleteHi Steve! So glad to hear you found this on Pinterest :) It sure does. I make this just as listed. You are right, it is a little pink, but the lighting in the photos is a little bright. I hope you enjoy this dressing as much as we do! Have a super weekend! ~Marion
DeleteHow long will the leftover dressing last in the fridge?
ReplyDeleteThis dressing can be prepared ahead and refrigerated, in an airtight container, up to 2 weeks. I hope that helps ~Marion
